The first written record of what would one day become Clinton County was left in March 1751 by Christopher Gist.
Commissioned by a English real estate firm, Mr. Gist pronounced the prairie land splendid. "Very fertile land with beautiful meadows, streams full of fishes, and fields of wild turkeys."
Today, Clinton County is just as fertile- still as an agricultural center but also as a transportation/logistics hub, and a prosperous manufacturing center.
